As the saying goes, 'all good things must come to an end'. That's true in part as our Active Lunch eight week challenge draws to a close, but to coin another phrase, 'as one door closes, another door opens'. OK, we'll stop with the phrases now, but what we're trying to say is this doesn't mean you have to stop using your lunch break as an opportunity to get active.

We invited you to add bite size activities into your working day with the Active Lunch challenge, ten minutes is all you need to a healthier, happier you! In just 6 weeks over 7,800 employees from over 600 workplaces across England have got active to liven up their lunch and add some bite size activity in and around the working day! What's more we still have some fantastic prizes to give away - just keep moving to be in with a chance of winning.

In June 2016 Gail Craig - an employee at County Hall in Durham - took advantage of the Workplace Challenge programme and set up a beginners' running group programme through support from England Athletics, County Durham Sport and Durham County Council.

By now you might have seen the new adverts for 'This Girl Can', a celebration of active women up and down the country.
The national campaign is all about giving women confidence to take part in sport. The message is simple; you don't have to be a Dame Kelly Holmes, a Laura Kenny or a Sam Quek. Whatever your level, whatever your ability, you CAN get active.

Winter weather is associated with catching a cold, and even though low temperatures don't cause you to feel poorly – the common cold is transmitted by a virus – we still see unfortunate souls suffering during this time of year.
At the gym, it's a common sight – a gym-goer under the weather soldiering on with their usual workout, determined to not let their cold get the better of them.
