Posted: Thu, 12 Jul 2012 17:17

Teams stepped up to the plate to battle is out as the LRS Workplace Challenge Softball Champions. Otis, Boots (Fosse Park), Ashmount School, Magna Parva and venue hosts Leicester Royals Softball team, took on the round-robin challenge to pitch their way to victory!

The drizzle during set up quickly blew away when the matches started and the beginner teams took to the pitches. Officials from Baseball Softball UK were supported by coaches from the Leicester Royals to officiate the games and some superb matches took place!

Ashmount and Boots (Fosse Park) looked hard to beat, but in the 4 round of matches they faced each other and Ashmount managed to pull awy with the lead.

David Deacon (Deputy Head) said "We're a bit gutted that the Workplace Challenge competitions have come to an end for this season, we won't know what to do with ourselves! But it's great to have ended on a high with the Softball win!"

Rugby Union also attended the event and provided touch rugby sessions for all the teams inbetween their softball matches. The rugby kept the participants warmed up and ready for their next games as well as introducing them to a new beginners league that will be starting soon!
