Workplace Challenge national ‘Midday Mile’
Date: Thursday 26 May
Time: 12 noon
Location: Your workplace
The national Midday Mile is back and businesses across the country are being invited to take part in what could be the largest simultaneous Midday Mile! On Thursday 26 May at 12 noon Workplace Challenge are inviting you to walk, jog, run, or cycle one mile as part of the national Workplace Health Week.
Research has shown that time is the biggest barrier to taking part in sport and physical activity in the workplace, with many of us choosing to work through our lunch break. The World Health Organisation has cited that physical inactivity is one of the leading causes of deaths globally, with 1 in 4 adults not physically active enough. Research by our partners the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity and Health revealed that employees who were more physically active took less sick days and were less likely to turn up to work feeling poorly.
The Midday Mile is a great opportunity to take some much needed time away from your desk, which can help improve concentration and give you an opportunity to chat with colleagues improving communication and team morale.
On Thursday 26 May at 12 noon County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) across the country will be simultaneously hosting a Midday Mile event and inviting you to join them. Take a look at our events page to find your local CSP led Midday Mile.
Alternatively, you can host your very own Midday Mile event and encourage your colleagues to get involved. Simply download our Midday Mile poster (at the bottom of the page), print off, complete the details and share with your colleagues!
