Achieve something amazing this year! Challenge yourself and your colleagues to the Great East Swim Workplace Challenge.
The Challenge starts 1st March and runs for 8 weeks celebrating this momentous event in the region.
The Great East Swim is one of the biggest open water swimming events in Eastern region, attracting over 2,000 participants per year and over 6,000 spectators alike. The event is designed for swimmers of all abilities, and offers various distance challenges; including ½ mile, 1 mile, 2 mile, 5km and 10km.
The Great East Swim Workplace Challenge is set - To swim every wave of the 2016 Great East Swim covering 1218 lengths of a 25m pool, between 1st March and 30th April. The Challenge works in the same way as the national workplace challenge; individuals logging swimming activities that go the distance.
Challengers from workplaces across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk regions will compete for the prize enjoying the team activity in the comfort of an indoor pool.
Four organisations that complete the challenge distance will be randomly selected to receive of £500's worth of Great East Swim prizes.
The main prize includes:
• Entry to the Great East Swim open water event at Alton Water Reservoir on Saturday 18th June for swim distances of ½ mile or 1 mile for 4 employees in their organisation
• VIP Hospitality for each team member
• VIP parking pass
• Swim local Premier training day for each team member
• Free wetsuit hire
Other prizes to be won:
• Random spot prizes in each region will awarded each week throughout the challenge
• Individual entry into the Great East Swim open water event at Alton Water Reservoir Saturday 18th June
How to take part.
Between 1st March and 30th April your team of 4 members or more will need to log your swimming activities on the local workplace challenge websites and start your journey to the Great East Swim.
To take part you need to sign up to the Workplace Challenge. Click Sign up or log in at the top of the website and start logging your activity today. You can also back date your swimming activities from 1st March if you are joining us later in on the challenge.
The target distance is set for 1218 lengths of an indoor pool. We have converted some distances to help you log your activities on the website in kilometres below:
Working out your distances for logging your activity:
Based on a 25 metre swimming pool
10 lengths=250 metres / 0.25 km
20 lengths=500 metres / 0.5 km
30 lengths=750 metres / 0.75 km
40 lengths=1000 metres / 1 km
50 lengths=1250 metres / 1.25km
